Are you 19+? Have you heard about the learning loans that are available?
Why do I need to take out a loan?
As from August 2016, the government is no longer funding certain level 3, 4, 5, & 6 qualifications if you are aged 19+ and are not on an apprenticeship program already.
What is the 19+ loan?
If you are starting a standalone NVQ course you may be eligible for a 19+ advanced learning loan. This loan would help you pay for your tuition fees for your chosen course.
What courses does it cover?
It covers most learners studying at level 3 and above including Health and Social Care, Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Business Admin and Hairdressing as well as advanced and higher Apprenticeships.
When can I apply for the loan?
You can apply now.
What will I have to pay back?
If you are earning under £25,000 a year you won’t need to pay back anything, if you start earning over £25,000 then you pay back 9% of any income above the £25,000 a year.
When do re-payments start?
Repayments start the April after you complete or withdraw from your course.
Do I qualify?
You qualify if:
· You are aged 19 or over on the first day of your course
· You have lived in the UK for the last 3 years
· You haven’t had a loan to do the same qualification type and level
