Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and experience all at the same time, to become Hairdressers and Stylists.
There are different levels of Hairdressing Apprenticeships available but they both lead to National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Key Skills qualifications and a technical certificate.
Apprentices help with the running of salons by shampooing, conditioning, drying, cutting and colouring hair.
They learn how to deal with customers so good communication skills are important.
