Role / Duties: The teaching assistant is expected to be part of the professional team of the school working with colleagues as required for the benefit of those in need throughout the school. to provide assistance in the teaching and learning of children under the direct supervision of the class teacher.
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear afterwards
  • Prepare and maintain equipment/resources for the lessons
  • Assist in the display of pupil's work
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate
  • Communicate with staff, parents and carers as appropriate
  • Encourage pupil's to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Support the curriculum taught in the school
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person
  • Contribute to the ethos of the school
Required Skills / Experience / Personal Qualities:
  • GCSE Maths and English A*-D or 9-4
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and in a team
  • Can relate well to children and adults
  • Able to maintain good relationships with children and adults
  • Awareness of practices and procedures within education relating to welfare, safety and education of children
Prospects: Progression on to Advanced Apprenticeship is a possibility for the right candidate.
Training Involved: The RWP Training Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistants will offer you a 12 month programme of work based learning where you will gain the following qualifications:
  • Cache Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills ICT Level 1
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities Workbook
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm
Other Information: You will be required to undergo a successful DBS check prior to employment.
