Role / Duties: You will be working under the instruction and supervision of the teacher in the classroom, to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom;
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear afterwards
  • Prepare and maintain equipment/resources for the lessons
  • Assist in the display of pupil's work
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate
  • Communicate with staff, parents and carers as appropriate
  • Encourage pupil's to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Support the curriculum taught in the school
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person
  • Contribute to the ethos of the school
Required Skills / Experience / Personal Qualities:
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and own position within these
  • Can relate well to children and adults
  • Work with parents in a school setting
Prospects: Progression on to Advanced Apprenticeship is a possibility for the right candidate.
Training Involved: The RWP Training Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistants will offer you a 12 month programme of work based learning where you will gain the following qualifications:
  • Cache Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills ICT Level 1
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities Workbook
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Be Safe Booklet
Days/Hours: Monday to Friday,  32.5 hours per week.
Other Information: You will be required to undergo a successful DBS check prior to employment.
