Role / Duties: To work under the direct instruction and close supervision of teaching/senior staff, usually in the classroom with the teacher. You will support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

·         Attend to the pupils’ personal needs including social, health, physical, hygiene and welfare matters

·         Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning

·         Establish good relationships with pupils responding where appropriate to individual needs

·         Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils

·         Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher

·         Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate

·         Prepare classroom as directed for lessons and clear afterwards and assist with the display of pupils work

·         Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed

·         Undertake pupil record keeping as requested

·         Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate

·         Gather/report information from/to parents/carers as directed

·         Provide clerical/admin. support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting money etc

Required Skills / Experience / Personal Qualities:
  • GCSE Maths and English A*-C preferred
  • DBS check required
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff
  • Work under the instruction of class teacher.senior staff
  • Have an awareness of pupils that have specific needs and ensure pupils dignity must be maintained at all times
  • Relates well to children
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance record
Prospects: Progression on to Advanced Apprenticeship is a possibility for the right candidate.
Training Involved: The RWP Training Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistants will offer you a 12 month programme of work based learning where you will gain the following qualifications:

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.45pm
