Role / Duties:

The apprentice will work in our busy EYFS class which caters for nursery children (3-4) and Reception pupils (4-5) as well as helping to run our new After-School Club.

The role in the EYFS class will involve working alongside the EYFS teacher and experienced TA’s to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, supporting pupils through play-based learning activities. The apprentice will follow directions from the class teacher to setup and carry out focused activities to develop early writing, maths and knowledge of the world as well as creative activities and be responsible for supervising groups and individuals to ensure their safety and help them progress as learners.

Primary tasks associated with the role are:

  • To support groups and individuals
  • Set up Continuous Provision/put out and tidy away resources and equipment
  • Supervise free flow outdoors
  • Assist in keeping learning journeys up to date e.g. by sticking in photographs and teacher observations
  • To work towards completing observations
  • To supervise EYFS morning and lunchtime break times alongside other EYFS staff
  • To prepare simple snacks
  • To create displays
The role may also include assisting younger pupils with toileting and provision of basic first aid as appropriate.
Required Skills / Experience: GCSE Maths and English A*-C preferred
Prospects: Progression on to Advanced Apprenticeship is a possibility for the right candidate.
Training Involved: The RWP Training Apprenticeship in Teaching Assistants will offer you a 12 month programme of work based learning where you will gain the following qualifications:
  • Cache Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills ICT Level 1
  • ERR Workbook
  • PLTS
  • Be Safe
Days/Hours: 30 Hours +
Other Information: As part of ongoing training, the apprentice will need to attend whole-school training on safeguarding, PREVENT and first aid. As with all school roles, the apprentice will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and recruitment will be subject to our Safer Recruitment policy.
