Role / Duties:

Under the supervision of supervisor/leader/head undertake a range of varied tasks to support children’s personal care and development by working with individuals or small groups of children either in or outside the room.

  1. Interact with children within the planned environment as agreed with senior staff adjusting activities according to children’s responses.
  1. Contribute to the observation of children and feedback children’s development and patterns of behaviour to senior staff/key person.
  1. Contribute to learning by providing activities under the direction of the supervisor/leader/head.
  1. Contribute to children’s social, emotional and physical wellbeing, reporting concerns to the appropriate person.
  1. Be aware of and comply with all settings policies and procedures including code of conduct, child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to a nominated person.
  1. Under the supervision of the supervisor/leader/head encourage independent learning and promote inclusion of all children in and outside of the room. Accompany and supervise children on visits away from the setting.  
  1. Under the direct supervision of senior staff prepare and clear away resources and continuous provision ensuring they are available for use.
  1. Verbally share routine information about children with other staff, parents/carers, internal and external agencies, as appropriate.  

  1. Within the context of setting’s behaviour plans and policies, use initiative to deal with issues that arise and encourage children to develop and take responsibility for their own behaviour.  
Required Skills / Experience / Personal Qualities:
  • Enhanced DBS check

Training Involved: Apprenticeship – 12 month programme of work based learning where you will gain the following qualifications:

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am-4pm
